I packed my rain pants, wool socks, gum boots, and a bin filled with educational goodies into a rental Toyota Corolla I’d nicknamed “Blue Steel” for the week. Sierra Club BC was hitting the west coast, school program style.

Students at Brooklyn Elementary school in Comox meet a Kermode bear and discover surprising things about forests. In their spare time, educators visit the famous eagle's nest on Dyke Road.

Sustainable High Schools and our friends from VIRCS, Boys and Girls Club and the Wilderness Committee enjoyed a sunny day out at Matheson Lake Regional Park this past Saturday. Youth and leaders explored the wonders of the Coastal Douglas Fir Forest, led by the expertise of naturalist Todd Carnahan from Habitat Acquisition Trust.
