When Stephen Cipes first visited BC in 1986, the New York developer fell in love with the Okanagan valley and its intensely flavoured grapes. A quarter of a century later, he is at the helm of the thriving Sumerhill winery, which he built in  partnership with Vernon-born Eric von Krosigk, recognized as one of the most-awarded winemakers in the history of the British Columbia wine industry.  

The Summerhill Vineyard comprises over 80 acres of which approximately 50 are planted (20 acres are given over to wetland and nature habitat). Summerhill is the largest certified organic winery, as well as the most visited winery, in Canada. Vines grown here in the central part of the valley produce intensely flavoured ripe grapes with mouth-watering acidity.

Wine-lovers can pick and choose from a great selection of reds, whites, plus rose and champagne, all organically grown and cellared with no herbicides,  pesticides, or chemical fertilizers in the soil - a wine truly in harmony with nature.
