Ecomap

To use this map: Move your mouse over the map. Click on an ecoprovince, and you'll see the animals and plants that live there. You'll also learn about environmental groups who are working to help the wild spaces near you.

What is an ecoprovince? It's an area with similar weather, landscapes, animals and plants. In BC we have nine different ecoprovinces, each with special features that make it different from anywhere else in the province. The ecoprovince YOU live in is important because it is connected to every other ecoprovince as the air, water and animals move from place to place. This ecoprovinces map was created to help you find out about the living things around you and see the other animals, plants and people that live in the rest of the province.

If you find words that are new or that you don't understand, then click on the Glossary to find a list of words. The glossary will open up in a new window, so you can keep it while you're looking at the Ecoprovinces.

Our Funders

Real Estate Foundation of BC

Real Estate Foundation of BC

The Real Estate of BC Foundation supports innovative projects that provide examples of sustainable land use: this includes the homes we live in, the parks we walk in, and the watersheds that supply our drinking water. The Foundation envisions British Columbia as being both a significant centre for creating solutions to planning communities and an adopter of sustainable examples from other parts of the world.
