Temperate Rainforest Education Programs for Grades K-7

(Temperate Rainforest Environmental Education)
(Grades K-2, 3-4 and 5-7)

Program Description

Our TREE Team programs were developed because teachers wanted their students to learn about the important roles that forests - particularly temperate rainforests - play in their lives. These programs are designed to give students a deeper understanding of these special ecosystems, the species that live in them, and the ways in which we interact with the rainforest. The TREE Team programs are divided so that activities meet appropriate learner styles, fit grade-specific curriculum connections, and deliver suitable information to applicable grades.

Journey Through the Temperate Rainforest
(Grades K-2, 70 minutes)

Helps students use their senses to explore what's over their heads and under their feet, and discover the amazing plants and animals that live right in their backyard!

Weaving Wildlife Webs (Grades 3-4, 90 minutes)

Examines how the animals and plants of the temperate rainforest interact with each other and their surrounding environments. Students learn how animals of the temperate rainforest use various adapted structures, behaviors, and associations to survive in their habitats.

You, Me and the Trees (Grades 5-7, 90 minutes)

Teaches students all about the abiotic and biotic components of the temperate rainforest. It also helps them understand the relationships between humans and the rainforest, and discover ways they can become rainforest stewards.

Action Challenges

After both your first and second program visit, our delivery staff will leave Action Challenges with your class. These are a chance for your class to participate in the same stewardship and sustainability activities that other classes across B.C. are working on, and to win great prizes for the projects you’re doing. We send out regular reminders about the Action Challenge, and work with your class to track your progress.
