Register your team now to have your school recognised for acts of green and win money prizes! Registration starts in October 2009, and project reporting starts in February 2010.

BC Green Games is a province-wide competition for students in Kindergarten to Grade 12, designed to motivate action, enable sharing and reward and celebrate the green efforts of schools in BC.

The steps to participate include:

  1. Register! Beginning October 2009, teachers may register student teams.
  2. Submit and Share! Starting February 1 and until February 26 2010, your child's sponsor teacher will submit the entry on behalf of their team. Vote for your favourite entries until March 15 2010!
  3. See the Winners! Chosen by judges and you and announced in April 2010.

Working as a team, students will do the following:

  • design a creative and innovative solution to an environmental challenge in their school or community
  • document their actions that help solve the challenge
  • measure changes in behaviour of community members as a result of these actions
  • Projects may include but are not limited to topics like the following:
    • climate change
    • greenhouse gas reduction
    • energy efficiency
    • stewardship and conservation
    • sustainable development

Projects that fit into BC Green Games submission guidelines and are action-based projects facilitated by an established environmental education program are encouraged.

BC Green Games was developed in collaboration with the BC Ministry of Education, the Environmental Educator's Provincial Specialist Association (EEPSA), and the North Vancouver and Richmond School Districts.
