Please join Sierra Lower Mainland for an interactive presentation on the topic of Human Health and Environmental Activism.

Cost: $5 or by donation

Come and explore links between healthy nature and healthy humans. We begin with convincing health research that demonstrates the powerful impact nature has on our health and well-being. Human health broadly includes physical, mental, and social well-being. We will then venture further into the park and try out some interesting ways of observing and connecting with the world around us. The tools offered may be beneficial for personal well-being and enjoyment of nature as well as inspire creativity in how we engage with others towards a healthier, more sustainable planet.

The presentation will be facilitated by Carissa Wieler, a PhD student in the Department of Forestry at the University of British Columbia. She is currently studying urban green spaces through the lens of new immigrant cultures in the GVRD. Carissa is also the Executive Director of the Integral Ecology Centre. This virtual and global centre explores the 200+ ecological approaches currently available to us on the planet as a way of addressing how we think and interact with nature.

This event will involve both an indoor and outdoor component, so dress for the weather. We will be there rain or shine.
