The Haida Gwaii Group, based on the Queen Charlotte Islands, had its first gathering in October 1999. It was an inspiring wild-food potluck that set the tone for celebrating the group's natural surroundings and working to protect them.

Our philosophy

We are a committed group of islanders passionate about living in this magical environment. We believe that healthy island communities have strong cultural values, a sustainable economy and a harmonious relationship with the environment. Much of what we do is by collaboration with all communities, local NGOs and islands' governance.
