From the Alberta Tar Sands to the Great Bear Rainforest, award winning Canadian author and photographer Ian McAllister, will show how the world’s second largest oil reserve is about to collide with BC’s remarkable coastline.
Ian’s twenty years of wildlife research and conservation work in BC’s northern rainforest have produced some of the worlds most spectacular images of rare wildlife behaviour - and his stories of living with wolves and Canada’s largest grizzly bears provide insight into a world few people have witnessed.
Ian is one of Canada’s most outspoken advocates for wildlife protection and his work has been featured in many of the world’s top nature and science publications. McAllister is the author of the award winning Last Wild Wolves and Canada’s Great Bear Rainforest and soon to be released Salmon Bears. He has been featured in BBC, National Geographic and Discovery Channel Documentaries and was awarded Time Magazine’s “Leader for the 21 Century Award”. Ian is a co-founder of the wildlife conservation group Pacific Wild.
Join Sierra Quadra on Saturday, March 13th at 7:30 p.m. at the Community Centre for an unforgettable evening of exploration and adventure in Canada’s Great Bear Rainforest and learn about the developments that threaten it.
