Job Opportunity: Executive Director

The Position
Sierra Club BC seeks an Executive Director to lead the organization during an exciting and challenging time.

The successful candidate will be a skilled, energetic administrator, excel in the management of creative staff, and be a careful and prudent financial manager.   Successful fund raising experience will be a priority during difficult economic times.  The job requires the management of an extensive array of challenging programs and projects.  Exceptional communication skills are needed to maintain and build support for the organization, to support and develop a strong volunteer base, and to ensure effective team work.

The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors, and is responsible for establishing the strategic and program directions for the organization.  Delegation of work to staff with effective guidance and support is essential to success.

The Organization
Established in 1969, the Sierra Club BC is a non government, non profit environmental organization, committed to protecting BC's wild lands and wild life. We lead and support responsible grassroots action and provide a voice for the natural environment and its priority in modern society.  We serve as an environmental watchdog of industry and government, and as a source of new and creative policy ideas based on sound research and credible information.

The fundamental mission of the Club is to speak for the well being of species, ecosystems, and geophysical realities, and to place their interests and needs ahead of human demands that are not consistent with them.

Location:
Victoria, B.C.

Salary:
To be negotiated on a basis commensurate with other similar size nonprofit organizations. A generous holidays and benefits package is included.
