claire

Claire’s work focuses on facilitating capacity-building initiatives with First Nations communities in the Great Bear Rainforest.  Her job is diverse and spans working with resource practitioners who are responsible for implementing the Great Bear Rainforest agreement to working with kids at science and cultural camps. The projects that she is involved with are driven by the needs of local communities who are working towards implementing land use agreements in their territories. She is lucky to spend a lot of her time on the North and Central Coast.

Before Claire joined the Sierra Club in 2003, she worked for a First Nation community on southern Vancouver Island as their forestry and environmental coordinator.  She has a Master’s degree in Resource and Environmental Management from SFU where the focus of her thesis was on aboriginal forestry.  Her undergraduate degree is in Biology and Environmental Science. Back in the good old days she worked as an environmental and outdoor educator.

Claire’s day-to-day life outside of work involves a little bit of lots of things: gardening, paddling, making time for her creative side, fresh air and sunshine, cooking and sharing food, coffee and greasy spoon breakfasts, cycling adventures, and staying connected with her friends and family.
