Nadine Lefort bio

Having grown up skipping stones, climbing trees, and playing in lighthouses on the rocky coast of Cape Breton Island, Nadine is a recent transplant to the west coast.  She brings with her years of experience with community-based environmental education.

She studied ecology and later, environmental education and communication, and focused her graduate research on ways to foster teachers' relationships with nature through personal deep ecology practices.  For most of her career, she worked with Cape Breton University and Mi'kmaq First Nations communities developing culturally appropriate learning opportunities that foster connectedness with the land.  She continues to foster relationships with First Nations on BC's coast toward land and culture conservation initiatives.

In her role as Education Program Director, Nadine maintains a focus on "connectedness with nature" as she manages the Sierra Club's magnificent education programs, hoping that the programs will inspire love, respect, and action for our environment.
